Formed in June 2009, Urban Farming Advocates (UFA) is a group of individuals, small business owners and organizations seeking to legalize urban farming in the City of L.A. We respectfully challenge outdated ordinances that restrict people's freedom to use residential land for urban agriculture and self-reliance, practiced in a sustainable and responsible way, and in a manner that is directly related to the city's efforts to green Los Angeles.

My name is Ana Pineda, and I work for Cinema Libre Studio. We are releasing our documentary film, SAVE THE FARM, on DIGITAL platforms (iTunes, Hulu, Snag Films, Over Drive, Objective Cinema, YouTube, Vudu, Playstation, Xbox, and Amazon) on June 7th. SAVE THE FARM tells the compelling story of farmers from South Central Los Angeles who worked on an 14-arce organic farm right in the middle of the city, the largest urban farm in the U.S., and how the land was taken away by the City of Los Angeles. When the city decides to sell the land to public developers, activists and celebrities join together and stage an 11th hour tree sit to protest the sell as the land has serviced over 350 families for 14 years as a local organic food farm that the families used to feed themselves. Featuring Daryl Hannah, Julia Butterfly Hill, Alicia Silverstone, Amy Smart, Tom Morello, John Quigley and Willie Nelson, director Michael Kuehnert brings to life how one local community fought for their right to a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative lifestyle.
